On the 20th, Pura Chicken, modeled by Jung Hae-in, said via the official SNS, “We didn’t know that our production support advertising could cause a lot of disappointment to many customers who love Pura Chicken.” We have called for the withdrawal of all production support related to “Solganghwa” from JTBC and the cessation of advertising activities. ”

Pura Chicken is one of the three main production support companies of ‘Seolganghwa’, and lead actor Jung Hae-in works as a model.

“Seol Ganghwa” is a love story between a prestigious college student “Lim Su-ho” (Jung Hae-in), who rushed to a bloody female dormitory in Seoul in 1987, and “Eun Young-ro “(Jisoo), a student who hid and healed him in a seizure. Writer Yoo Hyun-mi and producer Cho Hyun-tak, who form the duo of “SKY Castle,” worked together and garnered attention as an expected work even before airing.

However, when the synopsis for the drama was released, there were concerns before it even aired. The reason was that the set containing the love of a South Korean spy and a student campaigning for democracy could be considered firmware embellishment of spy and pro-democracy movement.

The production team said, “This is by no means a drama that denigrates the democratization movement and glorifies the Ministry of Safety and Security and spies. With that added, bogus content is presented as fact, ”he said, adding that he would revise some parameters.

Even after the release of episodes 1 and 2 last weekend, the controversy has not died down. Although the name of the female protagonist was changed, criticism from viewers poured in for the setting and content which was not significantly different from the synopsis.

As a result, several companies that supported ‘Seolganghwa’ are putting down advertisements one after the other. Besides Pura Chicken, where Jung Hae-in works as a model, tea brand Teazen, ceramic brand Dopyeongyo, fashion brand Ganisong, rice cake brand Sarijaemaeul and Hans Electronics also announced the suspension of sponsorship.

The petition to suspend the broadcast of ‘Seolganghwa’, which was posted on the Blue House’s public petition page, exceeded 200,000 in a single day.
